I'm wanting to dye my hair blonde and I've never been blonde before. I have naturally black hair. Obviously, I'm guessing I need to bleach my hair? -But that's a guess. I went to the store and I saw that L'Oreal, Clariol, and Revlon had some kits. -Are these ok to use? Or how should I go about doing this?

Call some salons and make appointments for consultations. Ask if they charge. Doesn't mean anything if they do or don't. Talk to the stylist and see what she has to say. Make sure you get eye to eye contact and they give you the time of day. You should feel important when you are sitting in the chair. If you feel rushed then you will ALWAYS feel rushed. Go to someone who cares about your needs. Keep searching until you find that one person you like.

Just for your information. You can REALLY mess up your hair if you do it at home, especially if you are dark haired and want blonde. There are so many shades of blonde that you can't do it yourself. You need a professional to tell you the tone of your skin and what shade of blonde looks best with it, along with your eye color. Sometimes the stylist has to do the procedure 2 maybe 3 times before the shade of blonde can be achieved. There may be different techniques they can use to get the look you want.
See what I mean? You really need to go to a professional. Why would you want to walk around with orange hair? On top of everything I mentioned, once YOU do your hair and find out that you need to go to a professional ... it then becomes a hair color correction and will cost you more...way more.

I hope this helped. Good luck and God bless

Going from black to blond is a pretty drastic step. You'd be better off going to a salon and having it done professionally. Most of the home hair kits are designed to lighten or darken a few shades up or down, but not for that big a change. You'll be happier with the salon results, because they'll strip the hair first, before putting the blond color into it. If you miss that step, you wind up with orange hair.

If you have black hair, you will need to bleach your hair to get it blonde and I suspect it will not go past a yellow blonde. Being a color technician I would advise you talk to a professional before attempting this at home. It is recomended to use professional product, ie in a salon, if you want to change anymore than three color levels either darker or lighter. The change you are asking about represents about eight to nine levels. I wouldn't recomend trying this at home. :( Sorry for the bad news)

u shuld always go very slowly when dying ur hair a completely different shade.....try temporary hair colour to first see how u look as a blonde.....if it looks terrible, jus wash it out, easy!

bleaching is so permanent tho so i suggest that when u buy ur bleach and everythin buy sum hair colour thats pretty close to ur natural hair colour jus in case blonde looks terrible....then all ya hafta do is dye over the blonde wit ur otha colour

It will take a few times if you have black hair. Go to a salon, otherwise it will end up orange.

I would suggest letting a professional do it. Your hair is precious and if you want it to look good let someone who knows what they are doing help you make a nice and smooth transition.
Good luck!!
