Pitching in?
Depends with how many people.
I would say about 30 dollars if there are more than 2 other people pitching in.
I would say 50 if it's you and only one other person.
I mean, it's a wedding, it's supposed to be nice. :]

To chip in money? I think it really depends on how many people are sharing the gift and how expensive the gift is. Of course, you've to chip in the amount equally like others who paid as well. Don't tell me you want to pay lesser? Hey, that's very unfair for others. I suggest why not you buy a single gift for your friend instead? Then you can gauge yourself on the amount you wish to pay for.

This depends on how much $ the couple has and how much $ you have.
Under ordinary circumstances, assuming the couple is in their mid 20's, I would say you can pay enpough to cover at least half of the trip of their honney moon trip.

For a co-worker...$20 should be good. See if they are registered anywhere, that way you can get them something they need.
