Does the Army really allow recruits to go home for Christmas? In the middle of training? What is that about? Does Air Force and Navy do this as well?

Yes they do, like everyone is saying, I just wanted to put my two cents in. I had exodus last year, but I was already done with basic and moved into my actual training. But the soldiers who came in afterwards, one unit did the normal leave, while another unite actually shortened their basic by two weeks to have them out and done by exodus. Bullcrap! I did 9 weeks!

No.. You can't leave basic training. They need to keep you there for the continuity. Sometimes they will allow the recruits to go have dinner with families from the area. My parents used to have some of the Air Force recruits come to Christmas dinner. But that is usually only if they were pretty close to graduating and only for a few hours. Basic Training is where you learn your discpline and how to act as a unit, I don't think any of the services allow you to go home during this time. Sometimes you can go home from technical training, but not basic.

the vacation agenda in a good number of cases relies upon on timing of the position they're of their preparation. If his 2 months of undemanding ends purely formerly Christmas, the completed unit will likely flow residing house for type of 10 days. If he's contained in the approach preparation, both undemanding or AIT, he will likely get his 10 days of go away after he finishes. If he's already finished with preparation and at an eternal party, they chop up the time so 0.5 the unit is lengthy gone the week formerly Christmas and characteristic to go back decrease back on Christmas, and the different 0.5 go away on or the day after Christmas.
