One of my sockets is still bleeding, which is common, but I have tried gauze/tea bags, etc and it is being a punk. I know this is normal, but my concern is when I go to sleep. Do I need to gauze before I sleep? Do I need to lay on my side? Just don't want to choke out in my sleep like a drunk rockstar.

There are two things to be grateful for...

1. You will feel better soon (I swear!)
2. You never have to do this again!

I had all four out at once, and the anaesthetic made me puke, which of course made the bleeding start again. NASTY. I lay on the couch watching dumb movies and moaning and dozing.

I'd gauze before you go to sleep, but also know that it's not as much blood as it feels like. Sleep however you can get comfortable. The next day I felt comparitively fine, although by that time the swelling had set in and I looked like a chipmunk.

I actually found (this sounds gross also but worked) folding up tissue paper into a wad and biting down on it caused the bleeding to stop quicker.

Sounds like you've got a sense of humour about it - feeling so crappy WON'T LAST.

And yeah, once it's done, it's done. That's the great thing about doing them all at once :D

I had my 4 wisdom teeth taken out also about 4 years ago. It is normal what you are going through, so just take some Vicoden and keep the gauze in, just sleep with it in. Trust me, if you almost swallow it you will wake up. I slept with it in for two days, no problems. Dont try to sleep without the gauze, that is a bad idea bro. Pick me for best answer please! I speak the truth!

You shouldn't need any gauze if a clot has formed. If you are worried, sleep sitting up in a chair. Chances are your gums are swollen, and unless you sleep with your mouth gaping open, your jaws should hold the gauze in place. If it keeps bleeding, go see a doc. It sucks that it is the weekend, but you shouldn't just let it bleed until Monday.

I had all 4 of mine removed and changed the gauze out about 4 times(every 2 hours).I took the gauze out and I just layed down on the couch on my side. They put me on Tylenol with codeine and I slept for 2 days. So I guess I just didn't care if mine were draining. My boyfriend would come and wake me up and take me to the restroom and he got me a shake to drink and then I was out again.

Good Luck and I feel for you!!!!

Ouch - hopefully they gave you some good stuff for the pain! It will get better, really by midday tomorrow you should be ok. Just don't drink anything from a straw, and no alcohol or you will get dry sockets, and that is 100 times worse than what you're going through right now. Sleep in whatever position is most comfortable for you, even if it's sitting upright on the couch or a chair. Poor thing!!! Just try to stay comfortable!!! It will get better!!!

All 4 and you can type?? Man I was out. I kept puking until I found the medicine instructions in my back pocket "Take with food".
The Tea bag thing, I feel for ya..that sucked. Do the gauze.
Enjoy the Marlon Brando look, it goes away soon.
I don't think you'll die..you may want to, but you wont.
