She might be a late bloomer (That's what my Mom told me.) If she is heavily involved in sports, she may start her menstraul period later. Her weight shouldn't be a problem unless she has an eating disorder. If your that worried talk to her doctor. Anyway let her enjoy her childhood while she can.

Some girls do not have a menstrual cycle 'till they are in their latter teens. This may be a familial trait. In other words, if you didn't start your period 'till you were 18, for example, your daughter may not either. Thirteen is still early. Start worrying if there is an absence of sexual development or failure to grow more in height by age 16. These and other symptoms may be a sign of a medical problem such as a thyroid or adrenal gland disease. Psychiatric disorders have also been known to cause a delay or cessation of one's menstrual cycle. Many of the women during the years of imprisonment in the Jewish concentration camps missed their monthly periods due to extreme mental stress coupled with a poor diet, etc. --- just a bit of trivia.

12-15 is the average time to start and as long as she starts by the age of 18, there's nothing to worry about. Just because she's 13 doesn't mean she should have had her period yet

Is she athletic? Sometimes that delays the start of menses. I know a girl that was 16 when she got her first one. I know 2 girls who's 11 year old sisters got them before they did and they were 13. It just depends on the girl. Just give it time.

Thirteen isn't "late" for menstruation to start. If she turns 16 and still hasn't started, visit a doctor. They will run a series of tests to determine the cause. You're worrying too early. Give her time. They grow up fast enough as it is!

Sometimes there are just late bloomers. My friend was underweight and really skinny for many years and she got hers when she was 15. Another girl I know wasn't underweight or over weight or anything, just average, and she didn't get hers till she was 14 or almost 15 I think. You have nothing to worry about.

Chill out. My daughter hasn't started her period either and she's close to 13. I say the longer you don't have to put up with that monthly cycle and the moods, the better!!!

If I was her I would look at it as being great why would a teenager want a period or anyone for that matter. All a woman needs a period for is having kids and she is definitely to young for that so why rush a period.

It is completely normal and even common for girls to have not started their period by 13. Give her time. She will likely have some precursor such as breast starting to develop, pubic hair growth, change in skin, and etc. Don't worry and reassure her that it is completely normal.

Girls come to maturity at different ages. If she doesn't start by the time she is 15, then you might consider taking her to the doctor. She should start her menstral cycle by then. Don't rush it, she has a lifetime of cycles to deal with.
