If you don't believe in the divinity of Christ his marriage wouldn't matter. If you are a true believer, you probably don't believe the plot, so it does'nt matter. If you are a true believer, and you believe the plot line, then you would be a gnostic, so again it would'nt matter.

Re: ro ro . I hope your comment is not addressed to me. I am asking a plot question about a fictional novel. People are answering another question all to gether. My point is that to create a story, you have to have sympathetic characters. The plot structure itself does away with that. Suppose a plane loaded with hijackers got hijacked who would care. My question is one of that nature and not religous at all.

More impractical than anything else. It's just a (badly written) novel

I am told that it is a well written novel, but it is a novel, and not a source of truth. Of course it has a catchy theme, as it presents an alternative to the Gospel narrative.
The idea of the plot is not new. When I was in college in 1968, a book came out called the Passover Plot. The idea that He didn't really die at the cross.
Imagine: a man is parrested, questioned all night, punched, slapped, cruelly whipped, a crown of thorns put on his head, he is nailed to a cross for a few hours (after carrying it to the place of execution, and it is heavy), he is pierced in the side so water and blood come out, but somehow he survives and is in some kind of a coma. He is wrapped up with about a hundred pounds of strong spices, put in a cave, and a heavy stone that 3 women couldn't move is rolled in front of the cave entrance. three days later, he gets up, rolls back the stone, walks out and convinces everyone he is the glorious risen Lord. I mean, it takes more faith to believe that than it does to believe the Gospel narrative!
Oh yes, the disciples, who had been cowering away in a room somewhere (they had run away when he was arrested) are now so thoroughly convinced, that the boldly proclaim his resurrection tot he hostile multitudes, and are willing to suffer and die for this message. Likely? I think not. I'll stick to something realistic, like the fact that he actually died and rose from the dead.
Edit:
90 ad? that's when Revelation, the last book, was written. Different books were written in the 40's, 50's and 60's.
the beard? The Old Order Mennonites wait till they are married to grow one, but the Jews didn't. They grew on when they were able to. It was embarassing to be without a beard.

No the Divinci Code isnt illogical. Now the author needs to get his facts straight but several of the things are spelled out for you in the bible.

About Pagan symbolism. Look throughout almost everything that is considered Christian history and you will find Pagan symbols. And why is this because although Christians persecuted Pagan's later alot of their religion comes from the Druids.

And thirdly, Jesus was a human man with human desires, I dont see anything wrong with the fact that he might have wanted to procreate.

Last but not least. Jesus does have a blood line. Jesus was not the only son of Mary and Joseph and therefore even if Joseph is not his real father, he had half brothers and sisters carried by his mother. THAT IS THE BEGINNING OF A BLOODLINE

No more illogical than the plot of the bible....Jesus is depicted as having a beard in most renderings... Jewish custom was to remain clean shaven until marriage, was it not? And, to those who will undoubtedly say He was the son of God, not a Jew - he would have been brought up in the customs of his parents. Why is it hard to imagine he might have married?

If you are a human being, the plot is logical.
If you are a spirit-filled Christian human being, then you know the plot is fictional because faith is not logical.....except to other believers.

The DaVinci Code is just a non-issue.

I was able to enjoy the movie without giving Hollywood an honorary theological degree. Christ's marriage was fun "what if" entertainment, but you're absolutely right, it doesn't matter.

Correct, the gnostic literature is closer to the real teachings of Jesus and the mystical platform, which was raped in the original text, and edited. and no it does not matter for those who know.

how can you all say it's lies? because your precious book says it is and because your church leaders say it is? well, guess what, none of you LOVED BACK THEN! not only that, but your precious book (the new testiment anyway) was written in 90ad. That's long after jesus' life. they didn't exist in his time either. not only that, but it's the word of man, so they said wht they wanted you to hear.

is it illogical? no. it's more believable than a man turning water to wine and raising the dead.
