You didn't say when she is due but hopefullly I can help you out.
First, buy one or two books on whelping puppies, there is a ton of information you will need to know.
Supplies:
Whelping box
Ready box
towels/rags
newspaper
hot water bottles
puppy formula
puppy bottles
rubbing alcohol
small food scale that measures ounces
scissors
plastic bags for trash
paper towels
thermometer
emergency vet phone numbers on hand
something to mark each puppy being different from the others
baby wipes
paper and pencil
whelping chart
clock
Take your dog's temp every day. It will drop a degree or two when she is within 48 hours, but often as little as 4.
Get your whelping box in order, if you haven't already.
Use the rubbing alcohol to thoroughly clean scissors and other surfaces beforehand.
You will use the hot water bottles in the bottom of your ready box with towels on top, then the puppies can go on top of those.
The formula is if you encounter any problems with a pup not nursing correctly.
Scissors are needed to cut the cord.
If you need to help open the sack you should use your fingers to help rip it open, never the scissors on that part.
Your whelping chart should list each puppy's gender, weight, time of birth and overall first impressions on health.
Plastic bags are for all the trash, placentas, etc. Most dogs will want to eat the placentas, but only let her have one or two or she will get sick and it won't be pretty.
The scale is what you will use to weigh each puppy after it has been delivered, cleaned up and dried. Place a little washcloth in the bottom of the bowl for comfort.
Use the clock to record each time of birth and the time inbetween puppies born. This is very important because long gaps between pups are normal but you need to know that it shouldn't be too long. It can be anywhere from 5 minutes between pups to 2 hours. If she goes longer than 2 hours, take her for a backyard walk, (bring a towel with in case). If labor does not start up you need to call your vet.
I like to have baby wipes on hand for myself. When the puppies are coming I don't want to have to get up and wash the mess off my hands to do something else when there is another puppy on the way.
I hope this will help you. Most people have no idea what they are getting into when they are having a litter. I can't stress enough the importance of researching and reading and finding a mentor.
Your vet is an excellent source of information as well and can give you advice specific to your dog.
Be prepared to make sure the puppies are nursing every 2 hours for the first 2 weeks, that means very little sleep for you.
Also, offer your girl water now and then during the whelping process, but no meals. It is common for the dog to vomit before delivering.
Good luck and please talk to your vet and read up on it. It's hard to pass on a lot of info on the answer board.
When she is due she will start out with a mild labor, she will look uncomfortable.

while you're on your previous couple of years of highschool, please additionally think of approximately what's going to take place to the puppy once you pass away to college. in the adventure that your mom and dad do no longer prefer to attend to it, it heavily isn't straightforward to the dogs to would desire to pass to a glance after. in case you get a dogs this is already housebroken and not a puppy you in all threat would be ok as long as you will walk with it earlier and after college on a daily basis. I artwork 8-5 and that i've got a dogs, yet I even have somebody come and walk her throughout the day. that's rather useful to contemplate that besides -- a dogwalker. i does not propose a puppy in case you have a hectic way of existence. Puppys take a rather good variety of interest for potty coaching and commonplace coaching, plus feedings. it relatively is incredibly much the comparable as having infant.

You will need to prepare your pet a large pasteboard box and line it with newspaper and get her use to sleeping there about two weeks before pups are due.Pups will be born anywhere from 56 to 63 days from time of breeding. At the beginning of her labor, you will notice her trying to hide to a quite place, maybe not eat anything that day.Put her in the box and when her contractions begin she will start tearing the paper in the box and scratching around. From the time her contractions begin,a pup should be expelled within 45 minutes to 1 hour,if after this time and she has been bearing down hard a pup hasn't been born, then call your vet,as a pup may be blocked in birth canal. If not and she expells a pup, just make sure she begins cleaning the bag of water pup is in off the head first, and if not you must break the bag and remove it from the head,or pup will drown in seconds.then let her finish cleaning up the pup.If pup should come feet first, then you should hold the dog behide the nape area with one hand and crab the pups feet and pull it out of the Mom,with pulling up and then down with the pup,but be as gentle as possible. After you get the pup out clean off head and use a baby asperator,(NOSE SYRINGE) and clear the baby pups nose of the fluid, then let Mom remove afterbirth and do the rest.Don't let this scar you,it is very simple and you will be very proud of youself after it is over.Good luck with your new litter.
