i have noticed that some believe undocumented do not have rights and that they should not be able to defend themselves legally , i find this attitude highly racist but still i am interested in what other think .

note : this video can be found broadcasted in U tube and has been around the world in the news . it is not the only one there is another one from the UCLA which shows abusive police men beating an Iranian guy .

the questions are :

would it had been justified if they were undocumented ???

should they be able to defend themselves legally ???

Yes, and yes.
The fact that they would be undocumented does not mean they are not humans. The beating was [indeed performed] by the "officers," who are DOCUMENTED -and not following proper procedure, I don't care what that corrupt and double-standarized police chief says, you saw the video, there WAS no need for such beating. Legal rights are one thing (an undocumented person is still a person, and only if his actions had been too obviously violent against the LAPD dogs should legal rights or sanctions apply), and HUMAN RIGHTS are another, which were the ones violated BY THE DOGS-er, pardon, "officers."

To those who keep reciting the stupid chant "The investigation showed there was no wrongdoing....blahblahblah," sad people you are if you trust more in the word of an organization whose main goal is to obviously cover their rear and not to "protect and to serve" instead of trusting in your own eyes. There WAS no arrest resistance, the subject was completely subdued--one "officer" was sitting on him, he had already been maced, could not see properly, the other "officer" had a knee on his throat and he couldn't breathe, AND the same "officer" was punching him repeatedly on the face. The subject's hands was not ON the weapon at this moment, he was trying to grab at anything he could because he was running out of oxygen. He was trying to *breathe.* SHOW ME THE RESISTANCE. (BTW congratulations on your patriotic indoctrination).

Beating up of ANYONE is unjustified. Documents or no documents don't make a difference, I agree with those who said so. No one seems to be pointing out the faults of the officers, like they're always saints or sumthin'. Those who praise them so much have obviously never had a confrontation with them and don't know what they're capable of. The LAPD (most police, but them in particular) gets away with a lot of stuff. From the horse's mouth.

the investigation showed there was no wrong doing by the officers. check your facts before posting, anytime a person resist arrest measures to take control are justified if the officers believe the community and themselves are in danger. If illegals have a problem with our laws then they just need to stay in there own country. undocumented what a joke political correctness is a mental disorder.

An illegal beating is never justified, no matter who.

Yes they should be able to defend themselves. Either they can leave or go to jail for the crime of being here illegally.

The video you refer to shows part of the situation. This is what happens with anti-cop people. They show part of it and do not give the whole story. Too many people second guess cops and they have never been there. It disgusts me. They expect cops to be robots, not humans.

Beating is never justified. You don't have to beat someone to subdue them. Whether they were undocumented or not doesn't change that. Whether they were resisting or not doesn't change that. If a policeperson gets angry with a suspect, or has the adrenaline pumping from efforts to subdue a suspect, that is not an excuse. If you can't resist releasing your aggression in that type of situation, then maybe you shouldn't be a policeperson. That's not second guessing them, that's a fact. Their job is to apprehend, and bring in a suspect, not be the judge, jury, and beater. When your in America, no matter what, it is innocent til proven guilty. I second the Human rights statement.

No-it would not be acceptable, regardless of their legal status.
They are NOT "undocumented", they are ILLEGAL.
Those who think they should not be able to "defend themselves legally" usually mean they should not be able to use our court system and laws to their benefit. They are NOT citizens, therefore do not deserve the rights that US citizens hold.

The gang member (not illegal immigrant) they were trying to take in custody had his hand on the officers weapon.
Would you have been ok with it if the officer had been shot with his own weapon instead?
Watch the entire video - not just what you see on U tube. Get all the facts before you ask inflammatory questions.

Not even close. It's a matter of how they treat other people, it should not be based on what their document status is.
