Is this a way to threaten us to be good all year long? Isn't this just like the threat of Hell?

Hey, you're right! It is just like Hell! I've always wondered why Santa was an anagram of Satan....

Discriminate? No!!!

The good kids -- those who try to behave and be good citizens get gifts (sometimes even what they ask for) and the ones who do not behave get coal -- so everyone gets something!

The threat of Hell? Santa cannot hold a candle to our God! But again -- there is the free will -- everyone has a choice. Some people do hear the "fire insurance sermons" -- but again, that is usually because they have not called out to Jesus to be saved.

I don't think you really should be comparing Santa Claus to hell. Santa isn't real, hell is. Hell exists and its not somewhere you want to find yourself when you die, so its a more legitimate threat. But back to your original question, yeah, I agree that the threat of no gifts from Santa is something that parents use to get their kids to behave all year.

The "Santa is watching you" is a ploy to get kids to act right. However this doesn't work until right before Christmas, when kids seem to put on their best face for Santa.

Santa doesnt discriminate. He simply doesnt have the power to send you to hell like God does. So this is his punishment.

No, it just means that kids who act like little bastards do not deserve to be rewarded on the same level as all the good kids.
