You won't have to "tell" them about Santa. Their friends will take care of that. When they find out you cant explain that there are many Santa's. It's the spirit of the season not a man in a red suit. My kids are 17 and 20 my husband is 47 and I'm 42 we all believe in Santa. Santa is a state of mind

Tell them about what?

If you are talking existance, most parents let kids find out for themselves. If you are talking about telling them about Santa coming, I would think parents talk about Santa from the first christmas and on.

My oldest son is 8 years old and he still believes in Santa. I tried to tell him a few weeks ago there was no such thing as Santa and that we bought all his toys, He didn't believe me, or at least he said he didn't. His friends have even told him Santa isn't real, he doesn't believe them ether, He clams he has seen Santa and he knows he's real. I have decided to just let it be, he will someday grow out of it. I just have to remind him that Santa isn't rich.

My kids are 17 and 20. We all still believe. ;-) We've never admitted to anything different. In fact, when my daughter was in 4th grade, her school mates said, "you know that your parents are buying the gifts, don't you?" to which my daughter replied, "well, if you don't believe in Santa, then it probably is your parents who are buying the gifts, because Santa probably won't come to your house!" My parents never told us either. To us, Christmas is magic, and we all turn into kids at Christmas! You have to know your kids, though, to make sure that they're okay with that. You wouldn't want them to feel betrayed.

I've never lied to my son about where his end-of-year gifts come from, so I will never have to undo the lie by telling the truth!
I'm not sure why parents would lie in the first place by making up some story about a fat man dressed in red. Why would you do that? My son knows that at the end of the year, we celebrate another busy year of life, and we give each other gifts to show our love for each other. It's not christmas, and there's no santa, but it's a happy celebration with a tree and no lies.

We never did the Santa thing, our daughter is 4 & our son is almost 2. We just tell them that it is a silly guy dressed in a suit & my daughter knows that some children believ & to go along with it. I didn't want them to trust some guy in a Santa suit that could be a kidnaper or pedafile. I dopn't think that they miss it, they still get the same # of gifts, they miss nothing
