When I followed a specific religion, I realized being attached to its concepts and treating it as truth was antithetical to the purpose of religion. A friend of mine used to call the religious book, 'The Big Blue Book of ********', and I welcomed it. Others would make silly jokes about it and I thought they were funny. Why, then, is my over-the-top joke about Wiccans and Wicca chairs taken as an affront? It doesn't bash the religion! Neither does the silly pun on Pie Allah Mode bash Muslims. What's the big deal?

Why are some people so offensive about other peoples religion?

It probably has something to do with things like The Crusades, The Holocaust, The KKK, al-Queda, etc. etc. etc.

Religion is far too often used as an excuse for violence and hatred. Sick individuals who otherwise wouldn't have an excuse to practice their hate, satiate their need for violence, hold up the name of G-d to do just that.

On the other hand, people do need to thicken their skins a bit. Good natured ribbing should never be met with anger. That only leads to more division and misunderstandings.

Look into people's hearts, examine their words with the prism that add color and dimension to those words. Then you will find the true meaning of what they are saying. Then the misunderstandings will begin to fade and acceptance and tolerance will flourish.

I was one of the people who commented on that Wiccan joke. I am not Wiccan but I think it is rude for anyone to make religious jokes about something they don't understand and Christians are the best at that. I am a Christian and sometimes, I am ashamed to say so because of the ones that are crazy and tell eveyone else that they are going to hell because they don't share the same faith.

Now I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but that joke was rude nonetheless.

we could pass into intensity right here. There are 4 varieties of human beings The non Believers: quite Sane the time-honored Believers: have self belief in God yet settle for that human beings do no longer the different Believers: have self belief in a diverse faith The SRS BSNS Believers: Clinically insane people who have self belief everyone who does not stick to their ideals would desire to be shot You look speaking approximately somebody who's SRS BSNS. the reason as suggested is they're clinically insane and rage uncontrollably while somebody tells them they're incorrect as of their eyes they're suitable approximately each and every thing and something. the respond rather is to have him placed down...it relatively is the kindest difficulty to do.

You need only look at the average radical Muslim to see what a fanatical belief in religion does to people. There individuals are brainwashed and blind towards logical thinking. I am referring to all religions, not just Islam.

Some people are just offended at diffrent things- like they can't laugh at themselves and since their religion is basically the basis of their life and vaules they feel mocked and ridiculed
but I do think they should just laugh and get over themselves (like were really trying to make them feel like crap) sometimes they just want to be offended so they have something to complain abuot- Frankly most things people say really aren't offensive- so just go on with what you're doing but be aware of whose company you are in :)

Just to clarify; this is not a 'religion' issue so much as a 'human' issue.

You want to see atheists go off the deep-end? Question their beliefs and you'll get a similar defensive (worse usually) response.
