according to ayurveda, if you belong to the kapha dosha you need the least sleep- like maybe 6 hours. Pittas need 7 hours and vatas need the most sleep- 8 hours or more, otherwise they cannot function normally.

A good night's sleep is on average 8 hours give or take. They say men only need 6-8 and women need 8-10.... But 8 hours is good as long as you get good REM sleep. If not then your sleep is not really productive. When you wake up from REM sleep, most people feel refreshed and no longer tired... Good Luck!

7-9 houes a night..
but if you have problems getting the amount of sleep that you need all at once, you can space out the times throughout the day if you have the time to do so..
if you need more information about doing so, you might want to read about the sleeping patterns of albert einstein..
its actually a very interesting read as well..
good luck,
-kay

They say if you sleep 2,4,or 8 hours that is good. I have also heard as long as you are laying down even if you can't fall asleep that helps you mind & body as well as if you fell asleep. I don't know if that is true or not.
