usually I dwell on the negative with merchants seeing how gullible Christians can be and whipping them into a frenzy for the purposes of war like they are organized and trying right here on this site,
but since I worked for youth for Christ for many years I want to point out that Christian organizations have for many years had a much higher rate of success helping youing people in residential settings when the young ones get placed there usually by courts.
Many a hard hearted young man was placed in my care and I cared for them (and those are not my owrds but theirs when asked why they liked working with me) would twist and turn for maybe a year, and make no progress and then something somebody said would penetrate and they would say a sinners prayer and in an instant they would become open and receptive to the same counseling techniques they never heard b4 that instant. These same young men would visit me latter in life and have stories that would warm your heart had you known where they came from. This kind of work has a ripple effect on society where once there was an evil influence being perpetuated generation after generation it stops and there becomes a positive ripple created. This influence grows and multiplys!! and saves you tax dollars. Every person incarcerated costs the tax payer ay a minimum $100 a day. Yet we are so stupid and do not work on the preventative measures we shoul cuz it costs so much money, i typed that with a whinny voice.

Religion has had some of the world's greatest good, and some of the world's greatest eveil carried out in its name. Religion has brought people together, provided common cause, given impetus to the desire to help others and brought people hope where otherwise there was none. Religion has also been used as an excuse to wage war, claim territory, kill those that are unpopular and grant individuals large amounts of power. Religion has both created and destroyed whole societies and cultures. Religion is so fundamental to our history that there is very little that can be said to not have been affected by it.

Jesus came and brought the message of his love for mankind. He is the most influential person in history. He came and destroyed the religious system of the day that wanted people to act and be just like they were by thinking they had God figured out.

For most of man's history you could not separate his actions from his religions, so the 'effects' are countless and all pervasive.
