I've been reading up on Mormonism, looking at general websites and websites made by Mormons. Frankly, Mormonism is begining to make so much sense its scary. I think I should balance my research by reading anti-Mormon literature. Any suggestions?

Yes, that's why Mormonism is so dangerous--It presents itself as just another Christian church, but it's really not. I really like the first website, the rest offer different "anti-mormonism" points.

I really hate to refer to these websites as "anti-mormon"--after all, we're not against the people, but the false doctrine.

Here are some great anti-mormonism websites:
1. http://www.carm.org/mormon.htm (great info on Mormonism. It's a Christian-based website.)

2. www.mmmo.org

3. http://www.angelfire.com/la/prophet1/morm2.html (exposes what happends during the mormon's temple endowment ceremony.)

4. http://www.lhvm.org/ (focuses on making films about Mormonism. Sells them.)

5. http://www.irr.org/mit/Default.html (Mormons in transition: Examines Mormonism and the LDS church...historically and with the Bible)

6. http://www.saintsalive.com/

7. http://www.josephlied.com/

8. http://www.strangite.org/Name.htm (Covers many topics. More interestingly, documents Joseph Smith changing the name of the church--several times.)

9. www.exmormon.org

There is so much information on these websites it's incredible-- You'll be amazed that Joseph Smith every got away with a scam this huge--Satan definitely had his hand in it.

For your information (and for all the Mormons that will vote my answer down) these websites present facts based in books distributed by the LDS church and use the Bible to illustrate important theological problems within the LDS church. The majority are not "mormon bashing" websites-- Although josephlied.com may present their argument in an unconventional manner.

If you have any further questions about the differences between Mormonism and Christianity--please ask. I'll give you my e-mail.

If you feel like Mormonism is making sense to you, and you want to learn more, why look for anti- literature? Why not find out more about what is good and sensible to you... if you feel it is right in your heart, don't fight the good feelings... and just keep going in the right direction... not backwards to find literature that only has false information. Go to the source that can help you learn more about Mormonism and find out what is really the best for you! www.mormon.org or www.lds.org which are the websites that will help you if you really want to know what is right

I am LDS and while I think that it is good to question our beliefs, I do not believe that using anti-mormon literature to do so is a good way to go about it. Our doctrines makes sense because they are true. If you honestly want to know if the church is of God, ask Him. Continue to read, pray and study the doctrines of the church. Try living them to see how your life will be blessed as you continue to learn eternal truths and draw close to your Savior. That is the best test of all. The bible has numerous invitations to ask and that we shall receive when we do so in faith.

I have dealt a lot with anti-mormon rhetoric. If you go to anti-mormon web-sites, I can promise that you will find the opinions of man mingled with scriptures. You will find mis-representations of our beliefs, quotes taken out of context, sensationalism, and flat out falsehoods. Many of these sites, in my opinion, take people away from God's word, from the scriptures, and get people hooked on unimportant half-truths. It often produces a feeling quite opposite of the Spirit of the Lord as describe in Galatians 5:22.

It is your right to search these sites out. If you chose to do so, I also recommend that you also visit one of the LDS apologetics pages. The church doesn't waste time defending itself against anti-mormon critics. The church simply teaches the truth and let's each individual decide. There are many individual members of the LDS church, however, who have spent time responding to anti-mormon criticism. One decent site is:

Good luck. If you do have any questions after looking at the anti-mormon sites, please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to try to answer any questions you may have.

Please please please check out www.saintsalive.com. You are right you do need to balance your research. I am an ex-mormom, and recently found out a number of things. The people on the site were all members of lds and know what they are talking about. When i was a member they wouldn't teach me or tell me about all church beliefs & doctrine and the real history.
There is also www.carm.org and if you do a regular internet search ex-mormom you will find a number of other sites but i recommed the www.saintsalive.com

good luck in your BALANCED research and finding the truth!

Yeah there are some anti-Christian web content. I even have seen some which intentionally attempt to coach Christianity incorrect, there are extremely a number of them extremely. For a initiate you may seem around for some sort of KKK or neo-nazi internet site, that could desire to be a reliable initiate.

In banks, they teach tellers how to spot fake money by having them handle real money over and over and over. You want to know what is real? Stick with the bible. God will give you discernment and you will not be led astray with "fakes".
