I recently received a ticket in the mail for running a red light in San Francisco, CA. I honestly think the light was yellow and I'll probably pay the fine, but here's the deal. The fine is $380!!!

Do I have any options here?

Please... I don't want to get into a discussion about the merits of red light tickets and how The Man is just trying to keep me down :)

I'm looking to hear from people that have experience with a similar situation.

What did you do?

TIA,
Aaron

From what I understand your back tires have to be fully over the limit line of the street you are on before the light turns red, in order to not be ticketed for this.

Perhaps you could ask the judge if you could attend traffic school? Or do community service in leiu of a fine. Especially if your driving record is clean, perhaps they will bend some.

I think you should fight it in court. I mean that's a lot of green for just a red light. Hopefully the judge will at least lower the amount. You may want to check on how fast they claim you were going [IF YOU CAN] when running the light, that may have something to do with the amount.

purple easy cameras are actually not owned via the police station. they're owned via a third party employer that delivers a definite share of the fines paid to the police branch for doing virtually no longer something. working a purple easy and being ticketed is a classification C misdeamenor shifting violation. A purple easy digital camera isn't a shifting violation and is in simple terms a great. subsequently protecting using isn't required. that's a CIVIL remember. do no longer pay the fee ticket. The police can no longer do something and the third party employer owns the digital camera, they could't do something the two. people do no longer understand that, yet as working in site visitors, i do. NO warrants are issued for no longer paying purple easy tickets. it particularly is the 1000's of those that pay without understanding that that save them in employer.

You should be able to talk to a judge first to explain. Some times they'll reduce the fine. If you don't agree, you can request a jury trial

You can usually pay the fine over a period of 90 days.

You could always go to court and fight it. Normally, the court will lower the ticket amount and some red light ticket areas have loop holes. Check it out.

Go to court and contest it. If the cop who gave you the ticket doesn't show up to court then the judge usually throws the cases out. Because it is your word against his.

Dude..Traffic lawyer.100 bucks and you'll more than likely get community service or it will be dropped all together. I have had many speeding tickets in my time and only one of them stuck. Good luck!
