This is the second time that I have experienced a terrible stomache after having gotten the flu shot. Is it possibly associated? Otherwise, I never get stomache aches. I also have a headache and I am extremely fatigued.

The only flu shot I was ever coerced into taking was against the Swine Flu in the late 1970s. I was sick for 3 days afterwards. I've never had a flu shot since and have never contracted any form of flu either. Why would you let someone inject germs (even though they are supposed to be dead) into your body in the first place? The reasoning is that you will build up anti-bodies to the live germs and therefore be able to stave them off. In theory it's a great concept. In practice??? Why get sick for 3 days to keep from being sick for 5? It makes no sense to me.

The viruses in the flu shot are killed (inactivated), so you can not get the flu from the flu shot. However there are some side effects that could occur which include soreness where shot was given, low grade fever, aches and malaise (not feeling good). These side effects should only last 1-2 days.

I didn't get any reaction to it.

One side effect listed is:

Systemic Reactions, which usually begin 6-12 hours after getting the flu shot, last for only 1 or 2 days, and can include fever, malaise (not feeling good), and muscle aches.

Apparently this year's flu shot is particularly nasty. I had itching at the site, generalized pain and fatigue and mild fever for 3 days. My doctor, who is healthier than I am had side effects for a whloe week.

I'm not sure about what you have, but recent studies have shown that the flu vaccine increased the already small risk of developing Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
