I'm 34 and my waistline is 33 inches for the past 10 years and I seldom exercise. If I reduce to my ideal weight and start eating right and workout at the gym 3 times a week focusing mostly on doing ab crunches, how long before I can see some definition?

Remember it is more about fat loss like the guy two answers or so above me said.

If you are working out at the gym you will have access to equipment to do a wider variety of ab exercises, including some with resistance. Along with crunches, you ought to do hanging leg raises with a chin up bar. They are tough to do, but beneficial and add resistance. But there are many more ab exercises you can do. Try to add variety and alternate your exercises every 2 weeks or so to mix it up a little.

Here is a site with list of ab exercises to do:

If you really work at it, there's a chance you will start to see results as early as 6 weeks at the best, but it is more probable that it could take 2-3 months. It really depends on how much fat you have to lose.

But remember it is more about eating right and losing fat than any exercises you could do.

Pilates is a great way to tone the abdominals. The DVD I love is (was) sold at Walmart. It was about $10 and called Pick your spot Pilates. 10 minutes on abs, 10 on butt and 10 on thighs. You will feel sore the first couple of days, but after that it is fine. I do them every other day.

A six %. does not only advance over nighttime, try utilising a double (meaning try 2 routines incredibly much without delay after the different...) like push-united statesthen sit down ups... which ability you get top and decrease exercising in the comparable pass and continuously stay balanced, you don't choose a stable abdomen with guy-boobs...

Exercise is great, but the truth is, stomach definition has more to do with fat loss than building up those muscles.
