It at least gives them an idea of the type of dress you want.

I looked in magazines and I looked online for anything that I thought I would like and I never found anything. I went to a couple of bridal shops in Lafayette and I found this one dress that was really pretty and it looked very good on me but I just didn't know. Well in the same shop I found another dress that the top was gorgeous, but the bottom was hideous. So I was really depressed about that. Well I decided to go to Baton Rouge and while looking online I found a website that had a really pretty dress on it but I didn't remember which shop I had seen it on. So I went to Baton Rouge and went to like 8 different shops and found a dress that I really liked. Well when I git back home I was looking through one of my bridal magazines and saw the dress I wanted and realized that it wa the same designer of the dress I was thinking abot getting. It had the exact top as the dress in Lafayette did with the ugly bottom So when me and my mom went back to Baton Rouge to buy a dress I had bought the magazine picture with me and they ended up having it there and I tried it on and I loved it. It's actually coming in next month. So yes to answer your question I think that this approached really helped in buying my dress.

I went to Davids Bridal in Atlanta & had a picture of a dress that I wanted but of course they didn't have it in the store. But I did find something similar. So I guess it was a good idea. Just a word of advise... stay away from Davids Bridal they are rude & very unorganized.
CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK!!

I did and amazingly they had all but 1 of them! I was so surprised. I ended up with one that I had a picture for--it was the last picture I had looked at online. Although I did contact the manufacturer of one dress I was looking at and they said that this particular store carried that dress....I just lucked out that they had all the others from different manufacturers too. The dress shop was over 2 hours from my house.

A lot of bridal salons only carry a certain number of designers...if you have a certain designer in mind, their web site will list the salons that carry those dresses...it will make things easier on the search.

I just went in with an open mind and I knew once I saw the right dress, I would know. And I did.

I would take in your pics for some ideas of your taste. BUT remember that normally what you think you like you really don't like on!!! My "dream" dress looked like sh_t on me!! I was really depressed until I found my dress. NOTHING like I "wanted". It is perfect!!!

I did; and found out what I liked on paper, did NOT like my body type. :) But my salesperson (Kim at Helene's in Winnipeg) was really good and found something in my budget, that I loved and that matched my wedding outside. :)
