First of all, I am a Hairdresser of 11 years. I know for a fact that the shape of your face is what everyone is trying to get. So be grateful that you have that. Second of all If you have a LONG face why would you want to drag the eye up and make the face longer by the appearence of body on top? Stop that right there. You need fullness on the sides. And third of all, and most important, you are describing your facial shape but neglecting what your hair is, weather it is fine texture, all one length, or layered and etc.....Let me know

You need to have some layers cut. They will give you more volume on top. Tell your hairdresser what you want to do with your hair too. She will be able to help you and cut your hair for that style. Also, try using a large round brush and remember styling products are your friends. I also have an oval face and my hair is extremely thick, but I have lots of layers so it doesn't fall flat.

Try a texturizing cream and backcombing. With a flat brush, brush all the hair on the top of your head back over your face and then use a dime-sized amount of texturizing cream as you keep brushing. Flip your hair back to normal and finger-place it. It should have more volume on top and hold better.

For most of those styles you have to cut you hair or at least trim it, for flip styles the top layer is shorter, longer, longer opposed to shacked styles which are longer, shorter, shorter. You need a voluminous shampoo and conditioner then add gel or voluminous mouse to your wet hair and blow dry it w/the round metal brush.
