I hear them either whine about how people told them they're going to hell and how they wish that people were more tolerant but then they turn around and attack other beliefs. They constantly complain about christian hypocristy and then they themselves, are hypocritcal. Why is this? Do they even know they are doing this?

You really do have to feel sorry for atheists because they really don't understand. It's the same for most Democrats and all liberals. Christian beliefs are based on love, acceptance and tolerance. We don't hate gays like they say we do. We don't like the act which we believe is a sin. They want to take God away so there is nothing left to be fearful of, no "being" to be held accountable to, no one to answer to. This way they can do what they want and not feel guilty or responsible. They don't have a clue how badly their godless attitude is corrupting our society. Christians need to keep the faith, practice what we preach and realize we do know The Truth. Let's hope others wake up soon.

hi! i actually like your outlook, as a satanist I actually have many of the comparable thoughts, that existence IS certainly well worth residing and we shouldnt supply it up for everyone. As on your question.. "Is atheism, then, yet another luxurious of the privileged few which a rather good variety of the international can no longer have sufficient funds?" i'd say confident, many human beings would desire to have self belief in something as a manner to regulate existence, whilst atheists are comfortable with the assumption to stay an incredible existence whilst we've it and not subject approximately an afterlife. White mild religions have little or no fee of this existence and have self belief it relatively is the afterlife that counts and this existence needs to be wasted attempting to get to the corresct afterlife. in the event that they're incorrect (which i think is actual) they might have wasted like 70 years of existence striving for something that doesnt exist, and if we are maximum appropriate, we had great lives right here in the international and there will be no regrets after dying

Pal: Tolerance is a positive quality for all humans to have. If an individual is not tolerant it's his own doing. We cannot blame any group or any religion for an individuals behavior.

If somebody is a hypocrite that also is his/her doing. We should not be angry or judgmental of others' behavior unless it harms somebody. That way we can be at peace.

If the other persons behavior is harmful we should ask the authorities to take appropriate action.

I can easily say the same thing about Christians, so we're all hypocrites there, not just the atheists. Hypocrisy can be found in all walks of life, in all people. We're not perfect beings. We don't want to hurt others, but we do so anyways. We try to practice what we preach, but we often don't. Human nature.

I can't speak for every atheist out there, but I know I'm quite aware of this and try not to fall prey to this sort of behavior. Even so, I'm aware that I'm going to despite my best efforts, so while I try, I fail at times, and do my best to apologize and correct the behavior when I see it in myself.

There are people on both sides who want their rights protected. The way I see it, that's one of the few things Christians and atheists have in common. We both believe the way we believe and want to be left to do just that. But there are some on both sides who unfortunately do go too far, who think the other side is trying to take control when it may have justification.

I've seen this a LOT with the whole "under God" issue, same for prayers in school and such things where the line between having one's beliefs and respecting others is all too easily blinded. Emotions run hot, tempers flare, people get out of hand, a lot of times without meaning to. I don't think most people really mean to be this way, it just happens when emotions run high, especially over something sensitive like religion, that people hold dear.

I'm sure there's probably people out there on both sides who DO attack deliberately, just to be jerks and stir things up. But most aren't like that. Most just want to live and let live and when emotions flare, so do tempers. Sooner or later, someone loses control of their anger and then it spreads. So I don't believe it's intentional most of the time. For most people, they probably don't realize they're being hypocritical, especially out of hot tempers.

There are jerks in all walks of life who look to tick people off, but most people are decent and just...slip in the heat of an emotional debate. It's not just atheists. Christians and others do it, too.

Absolute pig ignorance right there. Please, show me where in the Democrat platform it says "We plan to remove God from society completely." You can't love the sinner and hate the sin when you're talking about gays. They are their "sin". It's who they are. Yeah - the Christian Republicans are the most tolerant, inclusive bunch ever - that's why there's so many gays, women, and minorites enrolled. We don't want God removed - we want equal time for all religions, instead of the constant push of Christian values, morals, holidays, etc. We want everyone to be heard, equally. This Democrat Atheist takes great exception to the statements made by this responder, who obviously knows precious little about his subject matter here. Don't feel sorry for me, or presume to know anything about my mind, or the minds of any atheist, Democrat, Liberal, or anyone else.

The best way for any group to receive tolerance is to not get affected by others' lack of tolerance and, instead, become living examples of the truth of one's faith. And this doesn't mean taking the 'moral high ground' and not attacking in a subtle game of oneupsmanship. It means cultivating a sense of humility and openness to the world and others. And, if you do that, let me know. Because I don;t know how :).

The only ones I "complain" about are those WORTH complaining about. I mean come on, I just told a girl who believed, then turned atheist this summer, but is now doubting that that maybe atheism isn't for her, maybe she's more the 'spiritual' type outside organized religion. Oh yeah, I'm real intolerant...encouraging people to find what is right for themselves even if it differs with my beliefs. I don't care what people believe, it's none of my business. I only get annoyed by jerky types and people like you who make broad assumptions and apparently are intolerant yourself of us or you wouldn't be talking about us like that.

So there.

We're not asking you to be tolerant. We're asking you to THINK. How hard is that really? Stop hating people because of what your book says, stop killing people because of what your book says, and stop interfering with my life because of what your book says. Tell me I'm going to hell all you want, but get out of my life in the meantime.

Athiests cannot be hypocritical regarding religion, as they don't have one.

some athiests struggle to be understood more than others. the same can be said about some christians.

it's just that some people have a thicker skin than others.

Because everyone's hypocritical. Doi. You're a hypocrite, they're a hypocrite, there you go. Cept they've got one thing over you: they're the minority. Ergo, they're the ones that DESERVE to *****. Because the majority generally gets what they want.
