Seriously

I waited tables in college and most of the people who openly prayed before their meal never left a decent tip. I got little tracts on how to be saved but seldom a good tip.

Yes, I gave good service.

What a ridiculous statement, probably had to do with the service...

Please do not judge us all together like that- For one I am a christian but I rarely pray before eating at a resturant because that is like flaunting it and saying look at me I am so good!

I am one of the best tippers I always leave 15-20% tip sometimes even more for great service...
Treating others as I want to be treated also have worked in the serviceindustry and know how hard it is... If anything I alswasy was too attentive but my tips were great!

You must also realize some people just do not have the money to tip like they wishh they could and are on limited budgets, so smile and do your best anyway
Good luck!

Thank you for pointing this out to us. I to have heard that sometimes christian folks will leave a tract and no money, and while an eternity in heaven is much more valuable than a five dollar bill, a waitress works for a small paycheck and a lot of tips. I would say to Christians that if you want to leave a tract that it'll make your server angry if you don't leave something of monetary value with it. My pastor has addressed this issue several times. You'll never win anyone over by making them angry. only leave tracts when you leave big tips. Be a good steward.
Sorry for their arrogance.

God Bless

Jett

Well, I guarantee you I was not part of that crowd. I am a Christian and if I have received great service, I tip big. More than 15% and sometimes even more than 20 or 25%, so not all Christians are poor tippers. Maybe they just do not understand they idea of tipping.

I'm a Christian and I have heard the same thing. I am assuming you know they are Christians because you work the Sunday afternoon shift and they are in their church duds. I can only guess that they are stingy because they just gave money in church or something. But that is ashame. I know that some people do leave those tracts. Rather tacky. I always tip at least 20% and sometimes more. I'd like to know the answer to that myself.

I'm surprised. I would think they would be the good tippers because they're all about love, respect, and helping people. I'm not religious but if I had a lot of money I would be a better tipper. So were the athiests the best tippers?

I am a 70 year old Christian lady on a fixed income and I normally tip 20% or more for good service. I object to your accusation about me. I figure you do not tip the amount of your monthly income that I do. And to think that you are putting me down without knowing anything about the statements you make.....

Realistically I waited tables for 8 years and I never found that Christians were less likely to leave a good tip. The only plausible reason that I can think of for your experience would be that you live in an area that is more inclined to enforce the mandatory 10% tithing to be a member of their respective churches.

What one will go through to post a question on YA

Anyway, hey, I tip good. Like if it's a $20 meal, I'll leave $3-4.

A smile to you is already a good tip. A good service to other and don't expect anything. When you have a smile or thank you return, it will be a very much happy. Received a tips is a good karma containing the one rich enough to pay and also he is generous.

I worked in a restaurant where the Sun. after church crowd was heavy. That was the worst day to work because the waitresses complained about rowdy kids, rude old people, and bad tips. I worked in the kitchen so I didn't have to put up with it but that's all you heard.
