Just looking into both of these, and thought i'd get the opinions of those that knew more about these job titles. What would be your choice & why? I didn't 100% understand what it is exactly CCT's do, except for locate hostiles in an area or something. Pararescue? Jump from planes, secure areas, and treat wounded?

Also if anyone knows the passing ASVAB requirement scores for each of these, i'd be greatly appreciated. Just curious if anyone has info on these job titles, other then the military.com or whatever kind of information.

Thanks

Thanks for that informative post. I had heard CCT was like the Navy Seals of the AF, but it's sounding more like Pararescue is, since they have to master Water [Diving], Skies [Parachuting/Sky diving], and Land. If Pararescue dropout rate is around 78%, what do you think the CCT rate would be around? Not as hard as the Pararecue, or..? More info please =)

Well I guess I should answer that since I was an ETAC, and My daughter flies pararescue.
Formally a "CCT" (Combat Controll Team) is comprised of two Aircraft Controllers and one radio repairman. Nickname for them is "three men and a jeep" and they go by the call name "tailpipe". A CCT's main function will be to controll air traffic at a LZ or DZ in the field. This could be on a fire base or on a mission. An E-Tac will be inbedded with an Army or Marine unit to controll close air support on target. I was inbedded with a LRT squad.
Looks like others have done a pretty good job of discribing what para rescue is about.
There are some fun things in the job as well as some that are not so fun.
A couple Of Space Shuttle Missions ago, my daughter spent about a month at Zaragoza Air Base, Spain incase the Shuttle needed to abort, but she also spent a summer on loan to the USMC "vacationing" at Djibouty Africa in 147 deg heat. She also starts her third deployment at Balad AB in Iraq in January.

Para Rescue guys are the way to go...CTT is a little more mundane, but still badass. As for the ASVAB it should be around the 60-70 QT score, which is easy to get...the only thing that you have to look into is the required scores on the sub categories(mechanics, english, ect...). You can't go wrong with either of these jobs or any SF program. Good luck.

Who said that getting into the Rangers is the easiest? Obviously not a person that has been in a Ranger Bat, been to Ranger School, ever got their head kicked in by a Ranger... Nothing is easy about the Rangers except failing Ranger Course. Most people can't pass Pre-Ranger/RIP. Officers regurgitate through the program as fast as young NCO's. Ok, sorry, had to pull the shield provided by that great Ranger in the sky and yell a bit. All branches have their mission and accolades. The best operations I ever worked were with JOINT Special Operations units, pulling in the best Tier 1 talent from all services.

Pararescue are the men who go out in jolly greens and get downed pilots. Combat controllers can make a runway for aircraft behind on infront of enemy lines.they do what air traffic controllers do but in a more hazardous enviroment. They are the AF's SF.
