Explore different things, and ask as many successful old people who you respect for their opinions (just like you are doing here!). Your interests will change as you evolve. The more varied experiences you can have, and the more advice you get from different people, the better your choices will be. Think of what you'd really like to do most, and take small steps in that direction, learning what it takes to get there. Be glad if you learn you want to do something different, that's part of the process of learning. Many people change professions and careers -- especially the most sucessful of people. Good luck!!

It depends on what you like to do...what your good at...maybe we never really change on this subject at all in our lives because it seems we actually just keep doing what we enjoy...for example: I loved building things, taking things apart and putting them back together to see how they worked andcleaning and organizing areas as a child...I became a building maintenance engineer...basically doing the same things I always have give or take...now a person who likes to talk to people, listen to people and help them solve their problems might become a psychologist or therapist...I feel you will do whatever your most productive at and like to do....think about those types of things and you may find your answer yourself...

depends on how old you are. If you're 16 and under, you don't need to worry about it that much. 16 or older? make a list of some jobs and reasearch into each of them. See which sounds more appealing and take it. Just remember that you can switch from that job to another if you don't like it.

You'll figure it out on your own time. The more pressure people put you under the longer it might take. I would say by the time you're in your first year of College you should have a pretty good idea.

What i have learned is that if you can't think of something you want to be then, get involved in something you enjoy like for example... If you enjoy singing get involved in media or productions Do something that you enjoy so its never a drag to go to work. Most people don't like their jobs (lol I'll ask after this if it hasn't been asked already). Most say its usually not fun to work. lol and that's my point do something that is fun so you will always be looking forward to arrive at work.
Good Luck with your future.

Personally I have no idea what I want to do,

and like the sunscreen song says:

"Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't."

It's ok to change your mind...go to community college and get your AA in general studies and while your there you will get to experiment with different electives to get a feel of what you may want to do.
