I met a guy at job corps last year, and recently he told me that he loves me. He wants to marry me, and I told my family about it, and my parents and younger brother says that I should just meet other singles people, and move on with my life, and forget about him. But, the haven't met him yet, and I love him with all my heart. How can I convince my parents and younger brother that he's the one I want to spend the rest of my life with?

Honestly, keep the mindset that no matter what they say if you love him and he loves you then anything is possible and therefor it would be nice if they were apart of it but they don't have to be there for you to get married. Good luck and Congrats! ~ Katie

How old are the both of you? Tell your parents that you will consider the possibility that they may be right if they will take the time to get to know him. You should also take time to get to know him better. If it is true love, it'll keep. Then keep your word and listen carefully with an open mind to what they have to say.

stick with him!! that's the only way. eventually they'll grow on the idea of you and him being in love and getting married! i had something of the same thing happen, and my parents still insist on saying "if you and (name) are still together, when we;ve been formally engaged for two years!! they may never grow on the idea, but as long as you are happy that is all that matters!!

It depends on how old you are, if over 21 then give it time for them to get to know him. If he was at the "I love you stage", & you were at the tell my family stage, something is not right. Your family should know him before he knows he loves you.
