If it isn't really coated with product, not freshly washed is fine. If your scalp has been scrubbed, the color can be more irritating to the scalp. I always prefered washing the Clients hair after the color.

You can either do both, some products require that your hair should be cleaned, and some don't, to catch the color well. But the most important thing is your well being because once you wash your hair before coloring you scalp become very sensitive due to the presence of peroxide, it could irritate your skin. So this is the reason why in the salon we always suggest not to wash your hair.

Your hair should be relatively clean and should not have any product in it because it would interfere with the dye being absorbed by your hair follicles. However, your hair should not be recently washed because the oil has been washed out of it and that oil protects your scalp from irritation. So, propably, the day after you wash your hair would be ideal

I'm a hairdresser and have found that clean hair that is completely dry is the best. If your hair has been washed that day and it isn't really oily, the color should work just fine.

it should be free from any styling aids. its not recomended to was right before coloring because you open the pores when you shampoo if you rub to much and then you are putting a chemical on it. some people would be more prone to irritation. if your hair is real dirty wash it the day before you plan to color it. i wash my hair daily and when i color i color at night or the next morning.

your hair has to be clean when you dye it!!!
i would seriously consider reading the instructions that come with the dye
*is very nervous for your hair*
most products also require you to have towel dried hair...
what colour are you dying it? and what is your natural hair colour?

Well, the oil in your hair protects your scalp so I would probably dye it the day after I wash my hair, or your scalp will be irritated.Hope this helps!
