How do you prepare and stain an existing interior concrete floor?

You have to remove any existing finish, either chemically or physically. Sweep and vaccuum up any dust and debris.
Then you can apply the stain, it may take a couple coats to get the color you're after. Then follow up with a high quailty sealer to protect the floor and make cleaning easier.
