You already mentioned the problem, over sleeping the night before. Your sleep patterns are being disturbed and its raging havoc. The best suggestion is not to over sleep. If you go to bed a little later and then sleep in set your alarm so you are still getting your regular hours of sleep. Try not to deviate your sleep patterns too much.

I had the exact same problem, and now I have it pretty much under control. I reccomend two things.
1) Exercise: If you do say 50 sit ups half an hour before you go to bed a) it's good for you and b) it makes you a bit more tired and so helps.
2) Sleeping Pills: Like many have suggested, DO NOT take chemical sleeping pills. I reccomend natural/herbal ones. The brand I use is 'Natrasleep' that you can buy from BOOTS. They're pretty good.
3) Cut out caffeine drinks. Don't drink coke. or coffee or any other caffeine based drinks in the evening. The stimulus effect of those drinks makes it harder to go to sleep.

Depression and mental over activity.
Always making plans. Mind won't stop.
Check out cyclothymia or even bipolar affective disorder sites to see if it fits.
It sounds like you have tried all the sleep hygiene stuff.
Medication (short term sleepers/long term mood stabilisers) might be the way.
Or it could be existential issues. Or an actual sleep disorder. Maybe even a physical pathology.
Your might want to go ask a doctor to go fishing for a diagnosis of some sort.

Im not sure, if this will help you or not, but it always helps me. I suffer from insomnia. When i am unable to sleep, i either go out for a jog, if it is nice out. or i just walk, maybe about 1mile or if i really cant sleep, ill go out more than once at night. You may want to try this, it helps me and i hope it helps you just as much.
By the way, it is your choice but, if you do take sleeping pills, make sure you dont become dependant on them or you will end up worse off than in the begginging. I hope this helps

This just happens because you sleep too much, so naturally you're not tired when you go to sleep. I'm a college student so it tends to happen to me all the time. We spent more time sleeping than being awake, so we're naturally not tired. My suggestion to you is to do something recretional right before you go to sleep. Hit the gym, take a shower, watch a movie, then get some rest.

Hi
Not sure its the best method but there are sleeping pills in the Drugstore as well as Sleepy herbal tea that is supposed to relax you. If you feel very energetic try working out and getting physically tired so as to tell your body that you need sleep.

Take a warm bath to which you have added a lavender bubble bath or bath salts. Lavender has known properties that help you relax and aids sleep. Being warm and comfortable in bed will assist your sleep. Try not to keep your mind active by thinking of things also.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Dont worry, that happens to me ALL the time. I used to try to stay awake the whole day, but it was too nuts, and i felt powerless. But then i took sleeping pills before 10pm, got to sleep, and it was all good. I use them to get it back on track.
