Well if it's just red, watery and itchy then for 3-5 days. Clean, warm wash cloths applied to the eye will help relieve it a little. If it lasts longer than that or gets all gunky with green ickies oozing out of the eyes and crusty stuff, then it's time to see a doctor for antibiotics.
For now you can get those Simsilon pink eye drops. They are all natural and work for everyone of all ages. I just used some on my 2 year old a few months ago and cleared it up in no time!
Good Luck!!

Most doctors will not see your daughter just for pink eye.
If you happen to still be breastfeeding (or have some milk, try hand expressing you might be surprised if you breastfed for awhile) breastmilk will clear it up.
If not polysporin eye drops.
It should get better with the drops/breastmilk in about 24-48 hours, if it doesn't get better after 48 hours I would make an appt to see to doc.

Your daughter's sounds pretty bad.. when my son had it, it was only in one eye... after I put the drops in, the next morning he woke up and it seemed all better... no redness, no puss, no anything.. I continued to put the drops in for a few days after, just to keep it from coming back

It has to be treated with a prescription or there can be damage to the eye. It will last a few days once the right medication is administered.
