No problem at all. Insects have the same protein value than meat but are much more economic to the environment. For cattle to gain 1 lb of weight they have to eat 10 times that weight. In insects the proportion instead of being 1:10 is 1:2. If the crickets are at a pet store, then are safe for pets, meaning they are insecticide free, therefore you can eat them. I just saw a tv program on human consumption of insects. If you fry the crickets you will have some very tasty and "cracky" crickets.

Yeah, they make good pets. I wouldn't really recommend putting it outside. Just a few heat lamps. They can be either chill or energetic, but they are nocturnal so don't expect too much from them in the day. You would want to buy live crickets. They won't eat dead ones. Worms are the same way. You would also have to keep them at a certain temperature so they don't die. But if they do, they convert to cannibalism and you didn't pay to have them eat each other. You could use a heating pad underneath the "bedding". They love that. DO NOT USE SAND. Organic or not!!!! They CAN NOT digest it. DO NOT HANDLE babies. They can't be handled as much. It isn't good for them. They actually like humans and love to be held. Be careful of their tails. The can come off easily. But it is completely natural. It is an adaptation to escape predators. Make sure they shed all the way or they could loose their toes. It doesn't affect them much but I am sure they would rather keep them. You probably won't know weather it is a boy or a girl for a while if you get a baby. They don't get their reproductive parts for a while. Just like any other pet, they do take a lot of work.
