I am not religous. I do not believe in God. I am open to the idea that perhaps a higher being may have created me, simply because I cannot prove otherwise. I also have morals. I would never kill another human being. I do not steal. I try to be honest, but to be honest I have to admit that I have and do lie at times. I give to charity, I help the homeless by working in my local soup kitchen every sunday. I try to be a good person. Not because I think it will get me into heaven when I die but because in my heart I know it is right. Yet, I have been told by some christians that I am going to hell. Does not the bible tell them not to judge? One particular christian who does not donate to charity, who gossips and says spitefull things about others, who openly says gays are perverts and deserve to be put to death, tells me I'm a bad person because I do not believe in god. The hypocrisy astounds me. Is anyone else with me on this? I do not mean to imply all christians are like this, just alot

Well you are not a bad person and that you don't believe in God does not mean that you are going to hell. Yes Christians are like that. You are doing good in what you do. And in my opinion since I believe in God he will not send you to hell , he is looking over you and waiting for you to notice the facts and believe in him. But you should learn about different religions and you might be able to find a religion that fits you and then you might feel more conferable. Do what you think is right? And another thing in my religion your consciencee is what good uses to make you think about what you do. And apparently you do have a conscienc.

Feel free to ask me anything alse my e-mail is on my page.

I am so sorry that some say the things you say.
I do know that there are people on yahoo posing as one person and they are not. Like an atheists said he posed as a christian and did some post and he was sorry. I think that happens a lot and who knows who is posing as who.
I don't think a born again child of God would say you are going to hell
That is really far out there. and I think immature Christians would not know the Word as a seasoned believer would.
NO one should make a statement like that. That is not the love of the Father or his son Jesus Christ
No one is the judge of another, but God at the judgment seat of Christ
Not all who profess to be christian, are living what they profess.
Sorry, this is an imperfect world.
I do apologize for the way you have been treated, and I do hope that you will take into consideration that the love of God covers all sin
I believe that you are a good person, and that you have love in your heart.
Yet it takes Jesus Christ and his shed blood, and his redemption, to redeem us back to God as in our first state with him
You said you believe in a higher power, no matter what you call him. he is the creator of all, it makes no sense that we just happened, and the universe and all there in just was here.
I suggest that you study futher in study books and helps
to understand. It has taken me a lifetime to know what I know
I pray that God will bless you and that you will come to know him.
So sorry.......

I think it depends on the person. Personally I feel that your heart is in the right place, and you are honestly trying to better society. The world needs more people like you, whether you are religious or not. It seems a lot of people hide behind their religions; they do bad, horrible things and then turn around and say "It's okay; I'm a Christian", or whatever faith they happen to be.

Don't worry about going to hell or not. In my religion, you are reborn based on your karma. If you are a good person in this life, even if you don't believe in God, you will be reborn as a human and better yourself and society even further. It's not just 'you're going to hell and there's no two ways about it'. Quite the contrary.

I guess with those people you just have to become practiced in being an insult to them. I've got to say, though, these people will never truely become enlightened unless they open their hearts to different kinds of people.

Peace n love

No one is perfect. Everyone needs be to forgiven and to be able to forgive to find some peace in their lives. Sometimes the only way to find this peace is to give up and trust the higher being that most call god. if the term god gives you a bad religious taste in your mouth, then substitute it with perfect love or creator or master of the universe. A simple prayer like "oh master and creator of the universe who is the ultimate source of perfect love, i don't exactly believe thta you exist, but show me if you do..." may be all that is required of you.

Ok, maybe not master of the universe cause then you may end up praying to He-man which would be really gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

There is no such thing as a "True Christian". That term makes me barf. Everyone is unworthy of god's love, but god offers it freely whether you are good or bad. That is what amazing grace is all about. A good parent loves the good son and the rebellious prodigal son differently, but equally.

You quote the Bible and God inspired the Bible through the phophets, so you believe in the Bible but you do not believe in the AUTHOR ?? I commend you on having such a good heart and trying to live a good life. Everyone who says they are Christians are not living a Christian life (True Christian) . Christian means Christ Like, living your life like Christ did when He was here on this earth. Since you believe in the Bible, I can only suggest you read it starting in Psalm because the more you read the Bible the more you will believe. You seem to be an open minded person and I hope you will take me up on my suggestion. I hope God will touch your heart and change your mind about Him...................BLESS YOU ! !

I TOTALLY AGREE.
I am not religious either, but I do believe in a higher being that has created us, The porpouse of it, is very unclear to me and Religion ,especially Chrstianity has not given me any aswers ,quite the opposite, why would a loving God, be sending someone to burn in hell for the eternity just becasue he did not believe He existed but his life was dedicated just to show love to other humans and to be a contribution to humanity. That really pushes so many people away from religion , we are here to love and learn. No religion is necessary to be a good person .
I do not need a book to tell me what is right or what is wrong ,common sense and really unlimited love for others.
peace.

You sound like a wonderful person. You are right to say that people should not judge others. Many Christians will be surprised when they hear from Jesus, "Depart from me you who practice lawlessness, I never knew you". A tree is known by its fruit. Those who profess to be Christian and don't walk the walk are in for a big surprise on judgment day.

Because of Christian people like the ones you describe, it is very hard to promote the positive attributes of true Christianity. Many of these you already have, love for your fellow man, for example. The last 6 commandments of the decalogue explain how to have love for your fellow man. You are living up to the light that you have received and for this you will be judged favorably. While it remains to be seen if you will ever be given enough light about God to make a decision about loving Him, you're behavior is more Christ-like than many Christians.

You are right, we are not to judge like that. However, the person who said that is just going on what the Bible says. It says that in order to get into heaven, you MUST be baptized, you MUST repent of your sins, and you MUST believe in God. If you do not, then the Bible would lead us to think you will not get into heaven. However, being human, we do not know that any better than you do.
The person you mentioned who doesn't donate to charity and that sort MAY only be a Christian as a front. But, as you mentioned I can not judge. (though be clear we are to judge the person as to whether we should associate with them, don't confuse the two) However, if this person recognizes their mistakes and as I mentioned...repents and follows the rules in the Bible...in FULL, not just the parts they like, then their chances would be pretty good of getting into heaven by my guesses. Same for you, if you ever decide you want to. It's never to late!!

I do appologize for the way you were treated though!! You are right, not all Christians are like that.

PS: Soldier of God...you say live by the Bible, Die by the Bible...however, you seem to have not read the bible...WE ARE NOT TO JUDGE...that is in the Bible!! If in the last day of the worst person on earth they change their hearts, and do right by God...get baptized, repent of their sins and come to know Jesus...then they have just as much of a chance of getting into heaven as the rest of us. Don't you know that? Live by the Bible!!

Yes, I agree... how can a higher creator being said to be all Loving, all Compassionate and all Forgiving, be so foolish as to send a person to an eternity of suffering just for not worshipping him? And while those who "worship" him are also worshipping their own Pride, Meanness, Hatefulness and other such negatives.

I believe a Higher Power doesnt discriminate between a religious or non-religious person, if he/she did how can we respect a being who tells us not to Hate but is hateful himself, not to be Jealous but is Jealous himself.

Being gay is just one part of a person's physical and spiritual make up, what about their Loving Heart? Their caring nature? Their devotion to humanity?

Religious Zealots have reduced the higher power to nothing else but one who focuses ONLY on a person's sexuality... and thats just silly. Who a person marries or sleeps with no one's business...

Its not just the Hypocrisy of fanatics that deadens peoples hearts to the teachings of Christ but their Holier-than-Thou attitudes as well.... why do you think people jump and cheer " I Knew it!" or " I told you so" when caustic Christian Leaders get caught with their hands in the cookie jar.... I dont say its right but give out meaness and wrath, get it back in return.

:) thanks for the question

I am a christian and I am with you on this. Yes, the bible tells us not to judge others. Just keep doing the right things and perhaps one day you will meet God. Seems to me He is already guiding you. I don't mean to preach to you. Keep up the good work.
Therapist King's answer about Protestant faith is absolutely missleading!!! Sola scriptura. Get real. Anything else in latin?
