if both parents are fine with that situation then yes..... but if the one recieveing it doesn't feel it is meeting the needs of the children, then they can go down and get it court orderd

my x husband has always been very generous and we never needed a court order. but if the other parent can not be trusted then you may want proof of payment because the law requires the absent parent to pay child support. especially if the children are on some type of government assistant program such as medical insurance

Yes the absent parent can cooperate without a court order but if the mother (or father) who is taking care of the child ever needs to seek any kind of state or government assistance than he or she must legally seek child support from the absent parent in order to qualify for aid.

It is normally court ordered for the protection of the child... or so that's the logic behind it. When my mom and dad split up, he voluntarily paid child support and it was not court ordered, mom and dad just agreed on an amount, but that was 20 years ago. I think in these days, since it's a legal proceeding, it's just part of the process. The paying parent can pay more than is ordered though.

this is not a good idea . If the other parent ever goes in front of the state or judge and you do not have proof what you gave them means nothing.
