He may just be bored with school. My son is going through this same thing. He won't concentrate but when given something that interests him he is all concentration and focus. Don't fall into the medication trap. Research all medications before giving them to him. Everyone says take him to be tested and get him on medication, I say give him something that interests him, maybe change teachers.

if a child has ADD/ADHD they most always are failing in school expecially math were concentration is key. If your childs teacher does not have issues with him in class he wont be diagnosed. It seems that he doesnt have set boundaries that are consistent and so he is always going to one thing to the next. Give him responsibilities that he has to complete before he gets to play maybe that will help

Sounds like he's very bright and needs to be challenged intellectually. Have him tested to see if he's gifted. I think in today's society, we expect more from our children at a younger age, so try to be patient with his development. Plus, I'm not sure 6 year old boys were made to sit still (:

Your description of him sounds like a normal 6 year old boy. I would talk to his teacher and see if she thinks that his behavior stands out from the others in the class. He sounds just like my 6 year old and all of his other obnoxious 6 year old friends. Maybe all the other little boys in his class are just reserved and quiet.

Small steps. Try doing a scavenger hunt for fun around christmas or easter. It's fun but it involves planning and a bit of concentration.
He's probably just hyper. Make sure he gets plenty of physical activity. Hey, sports require concentration...

sounds like he may be hi per and i know you do not like to hear this but you need to have him checked now. if he is disruptive in school and does not do his work he may have ADD/HD, there seems to be a lot of that now and it needs to be treated as soon as possible otherwise he will have perm ant brain damage. i certainly hope this is not the problem but if it is it can be treated with the proper medication. and they have lots of medicine for this now.

You may need to take him to the Dr sounds like he has ADD/ADHD. This could be why he cant concentrate or be still.
