Leaving them on until after it is cooked is just fine, it's also easier to remove when the roast is cooked.

No, you do not take the string bag off until after the roast has finished cooking. It is easiest to remove with a pair of cooking shears afterwards...but a sharp knife works nicely, too. I think pork roasts make the most delicious gravy when you use the liquid and juices you cooked it in, so don't let them go to waste.

No, leave the string there, it's to keep the roast from falling apart while cooking. After roasting, remove the string and slice.

yea you leave it on.
when i make pork in the slow cooker i add half a package of Knorr fine herb soup mix.
gives the meat a really nice flavor and you also have a delicious gravy all done at the same time. very good

I believe that you cook it with it on, so that it stays together nicely then you cut it off once cooked. Good luck!
