Look on petfinder.com
I saw one today in my area just listed. I doubt if its totally free. The adoption fee covers the shelter's vet care. They don't make money off the adoptions. Look in your area on the petfinder site. You never know what you'll find each day.

Shiba Inu's are my most favorite type of dogs in the world!!!! Japanese dogs are divided into six breeds. The shiba Inu is one of the smallest and most ancient of these breeds. Sadly, none of them are free:( If you really want a Shiba Inu you can look here http://www.shibarescuegta.ca/ . This is a Shiba Inu rescue site. You can fill out an adoption form. These dogs really need homes and they won't cost as much because they're from shelters. Most Shiba Inu's are imported from Japan and are extremely expensive!!! If you do find a Shiba Inu please look at this site http://www.k9web.com/dog-faqs/breeds/shibas.html It tells you everything you need to know about this dog.

You will not likely be able to find a totally free dog.
If your finances don't extend enough to cover the $100 - $200 fee you will have to pay a shelter or rescue group for a pure-bred Shiba, I have to ask how you plan to finance the dog's expenses for the next 10 years?
Food, immunization, toys, leashes, grooming tools, heartworm preventative, are all normal expenditures that will arise with a totally healthy dog. Should your dog become ill or get fleas or any other problems arise, costs go up accordingly.
Before getting a 'free' dog, please consider the cost of the dog down the road. I can't begin to count how many people I have seen on this forum saying things like, "My puppy is sick and I can't afford a vet, what can I do?"
Please don't have to post something similar in the future!

i doubt you can find a FREE one anywhere, unless you know someone who doesn't want theirs anymore. But the first answer is good. Petfinder.com is a great site to find dogs that need homes. You can look specifically for shiba inus in your area. They aren't Free, but they are probably a lot cheaper than getting one from a breeder. Plus, you are saving a dogs life :)

Don't hold your breath. Best to find a rescue group and volunteer.
