I can't find my Vs1 speed in my POH for a 1978 Cessna 152
The Vs speed is 40 kias is that the same thing?

They are synonymous .
VS[subscript1] is the stalling speed or the minimum steady flight speed obtained in a specific configuration (usually a configuration "clean" of flaps, landing gear and other sources of drag).

VS is defined asthe stalling speed or the minimum steady flight speed at which the airplane is controllable.

They are probably the same thing. Technically, Vs refers to stalling speed in the clean configuration, where Vs1 refers to stalling speed in a "specified" configuration. Since the gear is fixed, you dont have many configuration options to pick from and they are probably referring to the same speed. For your purposes, Vs will suffice.

Yes the same thing.

Usually it is Vs for clean and Vso for landing configuration.

Just remember the 'o' is for 'o so dirty'.

Cal Nickle is on the ball on this one. "O so dirty" is one i've never herd before ha ha. I just remember Vso is "Stuff Out"
