Toddler K'nex; they're called Kid K'nex and they are reasonably priced. My kids love them. They're hands on and encourage creativity. Also, great for fine motor development.

Child-size guitar, a proper one, not a toy one. Also buy him some cymbals or a zylophone. Teach him to play guitar and make up songs. It is great for their development and co-ordination.

Also, umbrellas and gumboots.

I think 3 year-olds can benefit a lot from puzzles and legos. It helps their concentration. I also think that books are great! I have lots of books and bookshelves for my children, and the more I get the more they love to read.

Any motorcycle or Hot Wheels. At that age, they still like the littlest (non-expansive) things. Something musical, like a guitar or a toddler drumset is also good. If you are looking for something bigger, the Power Wheel jeeps, motorcycles, and four-wheelers are fun if you have the yard for them.

Anything that moves or makes sounds please 3-yearolds. Toy cars, his favorite action figures, something like that. Ask his parents if there are any certain toys he likes if you can.
