i work at a local clinic, and the questions may seem tedious, but they are for the person's benifit, so that we know what to look for.

Most STDs are still transferred through oral sex as well. You could actually have an STD orally and not in the genitalia.
The questions are there for a reason. Some probably don't matter to some people, but overall they are probably necessary.
No, I don't think that asking less questions would encourage more people to get tested. If it was just an in and out procedure, many people wouldn't know how to prevent getting an STD - or giving one to others.

Well, the questions aren't really useless, especially the oral sex thing. You can get a lot of STD's through oral. Mostly, they are just looking for symptoms to see if you need to be tested for something that would not be detected by a regular blood or urine test.

Not anymore than they would to have used protection to prevent getting the STD in the first place. I have read so many questions to support this observation here on Questions. Most think just because they have unprotected oral sex or intercourse even one time, they will not become infected.

Because when people come in they want you to give them the RIGHT answer but don't want to give you the right info. i.e" have you ever had sex with men?" umm no...but then forgot to tell you they like guys.

That's really true but it is also true that maybe docs need to know if you are or have been infected with other diseases
