I want to get highlights for the first time. But my hair also needs to be chemically straightened (as it always is every 2 months or so). I don't know which one to do first and how long I should wait in between.

I've done both, and I promise you your hair will break and shorten with time, but if you don't mind that, do the highlights at least two weeks before the straightener and use Emergencee (hair strengthener) every week! Leave in 10 minutes to restructure the hair. My hair gets about 4 inches shorter in the six months afterwards! Hairdressers will try and talk you out of it and say ONE OR THE OTHER!

hum... I think you should get the chemical straightening first, cause if you get the highlights first then when you straighten the hair the highlighted hairs might break. Also, I recommend you to get the Japanese straightening method called Thermal reconditioning. It's better than the regular chemical ones and also get a hair treatment included to protect and nutrient your hair.

let me suggest 1 that to do both is going to take out your hair , think about this you always see people with both but their hair is short it was long then broke off , some times stylist will say girl as long as you come in regularly your hair will be fine but that is a lie if your hair is being relaxed every 2 months their is no way your hair is going to be able to stand color on top of that , if you really want to try color you could get a human hair weave with different colors or just in areas with most of your hair out and just highlights.

If you chemically straighten you hair, you won't be able to get highlights because of the two chemicals in both. they will mess up your hair.you should get highlights frist.

Straighten the hair first and then spotlight a minimum of two weeks later. verify to deep project your hair in the previous having it highlighted to guard it from injury. you will possibly evaluate taking a go away-in conditioner with you to maintain it extra healthy. Aussie twin character is a huge one.

I do the same with my hair. You should straighten first, then wait about month to do high lights. If you do it too soon, or t the same time, your hair will literally break off from the scalp!

Chemically straightening your hair is horrible for your hair. You should consider never doing that again.
