I think there is too much concern for child and teen caffeine intake. Nowadays, caffeinated drinks are now banned from public school systems. And energy drinks are frowned upoun by parents everywhere. Not only that, but what's it really gonna do?

I'm 14 and lately my parents have been really worried about the caffeine I consume. They used to be all over what I ate: they made sure I had calcium, iron, protein, and all of those things. Now, it seenms that all they are concerned about is my caffeine intake. Evertime I have a cup of coffee, they always ask if it is decaf or not. They are always telling me that it will slow my growth... Incidentally, I've been drinking soda for as long as I can rememeber and I'm 5 feet, 10 inches and counting.

Where do you stand on this issue?

It's not really the caffeine it's the suger in my opinion. If you think about it for many years teens would drink coffee like our teens drink sodas. Also there is such a surge in ADHD and issues like that I would think that many parents would want to watch all all manufactured intakes of their kids.

I don't know how it affects your growth but caffeine makes me feel very nervous and anxious so I don't even eat chocolate. I'm very sensitive to it. Caffeine is also addictive. When my children were smaller I did not allow them to have caffeine but now that they're a little older I let them sometimes. Your parents love you and are only looking out for your physical and mental health. 14 is a little young to have a caffeine addiction.

My daughters school bans sugar, not caffeine. They now have diet drinks but not regular. The stuff in diet drinks causes cancer. Would you rather your kid be fat or die from cancer? Caffeine doesn't stunt your growth - people just say that for some dum reason.

At the end of the day, a guy I work with would pour the remainder of his coffee in to the tree by his desk. After a few months, the tree didn't look so good.
