I've seen many things in my day. Once, I woke and saw what looked like a
skeleton, it was so skinny. The only light I had was a digital clock in
the front room, so it was just a shape. It had it's head to one side, like it was wondering about me. I just said, "go, go." And it shrank down to a few little dots moving around in the center, and was gone.
Later, a girlfriend I was writing to, said that it was her guardian. It looked like
a skeleton with jewels on it and was lots of different colors.
Hmmm!

Well I'm a white lady... and I'm short enough to have been jokingly called a dwarf... does that count?

Yuo can create some horrific stories and make it a folklore....
