I am a senior in high school thinking about joining the navy next year. If I good, I would like to learn to speak Arabic. I was born in America and have no criminal background. I have decent grades and scored a 99 on the AFQT. Are there any other hurdles to becoming an Arabic linguist?

P.S. I wouldn't be too upset if I had to study something besides Arabic. But I've heard Arabic is in high demand for the military.

there is no way you can practice/study for the DLAB. the audio portion of the test is a made up language.

all you can do is make sure you know grammar, syntax and sentance structure cold.

What language you get as a CTI is partly based on your DLAB score and partly based on what classes are starting up when you show up to DLI.

If you have a serious interest in Arabic, you should definitely pursue it. Specifically Navy? I am not sure. However, everyone from the CIA to the State Department will be interested in those skills. Good luck!
