Small lizards are great if you want a pet that is not horribly interactive. Some, of course, are better than others. :)

Large lizards (iguanas, etc.) are a huge commitment and you need to really research the type of critter you are thinking about before making a decision. My green iguana got over 6 ft. long in his lifetime.

As far as cats go... lizards are natural prey for cats. A bite or scratch from a cat can make them very ill. They should NEVER be allowed to socialize!! EVEN WITH THE BIG ONES! Your iguana and your kitty will NEVER be friends. It would be like having a pet wolf and then getting a chicken and hoping they will be best buds.

Pet lizards are definitely neat. I've got a pet Mali Uromastyx. You'll find out that, although they seem to be a bit "boring" at first, every lizard has its own "personality". Mine is quite picky in the food it eats, a little moody at times, and sometimes a little playful (for a lizard). I'm not sure about the cats, but I wouldn't think it would be a great idea.

If you like lizards and know how to take care of them, sure! But never take your lizard out if there is a cat in the room: Cats will kill and eat them as quickly as they will mice!
