I don't know as glasses ever correct your eyes, but they actually work like a magnifying glass. The term "correct" is what the eye doctors use to try to explain what a eye glasses prescription will do to make it possible for a person to be able to see as though they have 20/20 vision once again. Once you remove your eye glasses or contacts, the "correction" suddenly ends. I have been wearing them for many years. Its an unfortunate part of life for many of us human beings. I don't use contacts because of the issues surrounding them, one namely is proper sanitation. An eye infection can be a VERY SERIOUS thing to have. If you are a new eyewear user, I fully sympathize with your feelings about glasses, contacts, etc., but it'll probably be a lifetime commitment from here forward. Unfortunately our eyes change for us all as we age in life.

Duration:usually 3 to 6 months. Depends on if they have eccentric fixation and how bad their vision is. Why?: Due to the fact your child always had 1 better seeing eye, the brain restructures the neuronal synapses to favor the good eye and less neurons to work for the bad eye. What patching does is to stimulate the bad eye which should be (FULLY CORRECTED with sRx) to allow the synapses to equalize among the 2 eyes. Important Info: The doctor should advise you to patch the good eye as well at least once a week so that the good eye does not turn it self to the lazy eye after the bad eye is fully corrected. Usually the child will hate you for the first couple weeks especially when you let them color or play with their toys since they cant see clearly. They will try to remove that patch when you cover up their good eye. So it is best that you monitor your child when you patch them. I have read in some articles that if your daughter is seeing 20/200 or worse it is recommended to patch them 6 hrs a day. To speed up the process like you said, just patch them 6 hours a day and also to patch the bad eye at least once a week for 6 hrs as well. GOOD LUCK and hope this helps.

Are you asking if they will make your eyes like they used to be? If you are, then ... never. They are a crutch to assist your eyes. Same thing for contacts.
If you have been prescribed glasses that do not help, then go back to the person who presecribed them and tell them it isn't right.
Sometimes surgery can correct your eyes to the point where you no longer need glasses.

If the glasses were made right, they should correct your vision immediately. I've never had any experience with contacts.
Now, over time your eyes could change. So you should have them re-examined from time to time. Also, there are doctors who can use laser proceedures to repair the eyes themselves. Keep that in mind when trying to decide what is best for you.
Good luck!

Glasses immediately correct your vision when you put them on, and your far-sightedness or near-sightedness immediately comes back when you remove them!!!!! One is either far sighted or near sighted ( and maybe even hs something called an astigmatism) because of the way the image forms on the retina -- your eye is either too flat or too high and low (like an olive side ways or an olive held with the stem down). We can artificially change that by lenses (contacts or the usual eye glasses) or we can carve away at the eye lens itself to make the focal point more exact. But glasses themselves correct only during the time you are wearing them, hon. They aren't like braces on your teeth..

You have a slight mis-understanding. Glasses and contacts do not correct your sight, unless you are wearing them. The only way to fix your eyesight is to get lasik surgery and even then, they can't always fix eyesight completely. You will have to wear glasses or contacts always. It's not that bad though, you get used to it. Best of luck

Glasses and contacts correct your vision as soon as you wear them. They do not change your eye prescription.
