Daily doses vary greatly, from 0.5 mg at bedtime for insomnia to 2.5 mg every 6 hours or more in the acute treatment of mania, before first line drugs (such as lithium or valproic acid) control the situation.

I would check with my doctor because since you are asking this question, something isn't or doesn't feel right to you.

Depends on what it is used for, how often its taken and if its by mouth or injection/ivp. Some patients take 2mgs 2-3 times daily, but the most commen dosage is 1mg. Ativan is used for lots of different reasons, requiring dosage to be based on circumstance/

No, not really, well in my opinion anyway. But every drug responds differently to every person. Is this your first time taking the drug? Or have you noticed that it is too strong for you, then ask your doctor to lower the doasage to 1mg. Only way to find out is to take it, and see.
