if you do the inviting then you do the paying.
you don't really expect to invite someone to a party and expect them to pay, do you? do you also expect them to bring you a present?

you are right. Your friend should pay for dinner. That's very tacky of her to invite people to a bday party and make them paid for their own meal. Friends are suspose to bring presents for her bfriend and she is suspose to paid for the bill unless she stated on the invitation that people pay their own way. If your friend can't afford to paid for the dinner she should of consider throwing party at her house.

If you host a party, you are obligated to pay.
Inviting people to a party at a restaurant at which they pay their own way is as cheesy as inviting people to your home for a party and charging a cover charge.

Well, if you invite some one in your home for dinner, are you expecting them to cook? I was raised to believe that if I invite some one to dinner at a resturant, then I pay the tab.

um, this is a good question. Damn. Um. Well if i got an invitation to a birthday party at a restaurant, which i have, i would expect to pay, which i did. its just tacky not to. what are they gonna say, "oh i thought the birthday boy was gonna pay". unless the invite says "foods on us". then i would come with no money, well some money for drinks, but still it looks so bad not to pay for your own food.I hate free loaders.

You are. If she wants the guest's to pay for their own dinner she should have specified it in the invite.

Technically this dinner should be paid for. But you never know. So go prepared to pay for your own meal.
