This is a purely hypothetical question, but having viewed the history of America over the last few months I am wondering if the West has gone soft in it's attitde to the Middle East? Given the current complications, would it not be easier for the West to simply 'nuke' the whole of the Middle East, wiping out all of the global terrorist threat in one fell swoop, than to continue in this grotesque 'War On Terror'? There is no doubting that terrorists are currently looking to acquire the technology to attempt a 'first strike' on the Western Allies. Is it not worth considering, for global peace and security, that the West makes a pre-emptive strike against it's enemies? They say that history is written by the victor. In that context is not worth the risk of simply wiping outthe whole of the Middle East to achieve that objective?

I don't think America would like to be the ones to let the Genie out of the bottle again. See, we used the bomb to end WW2 and saved not only American Lives, but Japanese lives too. It was estimated that over a MILLION people would die if we invaded Japan.

The trouble with nukes is they are area wide weapons. It takes out everyone, good people, kids, bad people, and anything else in that area. America would much rather try to do things conventional if they could.

I think that we need to send the message, world wide, that if a nuke goes off, or a dirty bomb in the US, what ever country support that group that committed that crime, will be visited by us. We will bring the million degrees of heat and they supply the sand and we will turn their country into a glass parking lot.

We cant let terrorist run our country, even with threats of attack. We have to stand strong, or bend over and kiss it good bye cause, they will come after us if we leave Iraq undone and incomplete.

Are you listening Democrats???? Then who are you going to blame for that attack????

well remember the viet nam war? well we let them fight their own war because we couldnt tell them apart. Some people were good people others were bad. Not everyone in the middle east are bad. Some just try to make a life and feed their family. Americas people will rebell and say that the goverment just made a big mistake. killing millions leaving but only dead bodies on an empty land. Does that seem like a happy ending too you? On the other hand its ok nuking north korea because they are all into war even women and children. They do not know about the outside world and are conceted that their country is best. So we should nuke em all

A better question would have been "How soft is your head?" Is it oatmeal or bran mash you have between your ears? If you were a literate person, you would know that the politics of the Middle East is also the politics of the West. Both have been entwined for hundreds of years, and the meddling of the Europeans in Middle Eastern affairs is coming back to haunt all the Western world in spades.

The problem with your proposed solution is that the West is deeply addicted to oil. Exploding one or several nuclear devices in the region would halt oil production and very quickly bring the West to its knees. So whether you like them or hate them, your ability to live the Western lifestyle of conspicuous energy consumption is forever tied to and indebted to the Middle East.

Worse yet, is that your proposed solution could easily turn the region's control over to China or India. I hope you kept your grand parent's buggy and plow in good condition. You'll be needing them in the aftermath of the destruction you are advocating. That and a good pair of boots. You'll be doing a lot of walking.
