I by no ability heard the 2d version, so I asked my mothers and dads (the two German like me). My father, born in 1926, says they used to assert "ge-stapo", my mom, born in 1933 yet residing in yet another city, says they used to assert"ge-shtapo". So the two variations could be suited.
