I need to babysit 3 boys, one's about 4, and the other two are about 7 or 8. How much should i charge?
P.S: The job's about an hour or an hour and a half .

Twenty bucks sounds about right for an hour and a half.
For an hour, maybe 15 bucks.
I say it's reasonable to charge $5 per child per hour (but adjust for extended periods). $2/child/hour is slave labor. In the case of two children, that doesn't even reach minimum wage.

$15 bucks sounds right on the money. Its a nice round figure, and its very affordable. But then again, you have to take into account who youre babysitting for. If its a poorer family, well, they wont afford it. But if the family drives 2 nice cars, has a nice house in a nice neighborhood, well then you know what Im saying
And remember, it might not seem like alot, but you do a good job, and they will keep asking you back
And even better..tell their friends about you
OR
you can use them as a reference for you so that you may get other jobs from other people, and say .."i watch the (johnsons 3 kids)
So dont try getting as much money off of one family for one day, instead use this ($15) as the start of your own little enterprise, where you start seeing the intangibles (the stuff that cant be seen), and you take advantage of them because good references are worth more than money for one job.

About 10-15 years ago, I charged $5 per kid per hour. That would be $15 an hour for the boys you're sitting. I'd make it an even $20 given inflation. That'll make it easier to figure in for the half hour as well (so for an hour and a half, they'd pay you $30). Discuss this rate with the parents and gage their reaction. There's always room for compromise.

Wow, $2.00 per kid??? I would love to find these babysitters!!! There are other factors that go into how much you should charge. Do you have to help w/homework, feed them (other than snack), get them ready for bed. Are they allowed to have friends over or go over friends houses when you are there. If it is just hanging out w/them (and only giving a snack) then $5.00 a kid is reasonable whether it is an hour or an hour and a half.
If you are responsible for any other duties that was mentioned above then you could/should charge more. You should also take into consideration if these are generally well behaved kids. If they are nightmares, then charge $20.

You should have a minimum charge, so that it is worth it to you to babysit for only an hour or two. I would set up a minimum charge of $10 and an hourly charge of $5 (more if you had more than three kids).

A very good rule of thumb is $2 per child per hour. If you're caring for an infant or toddlers (the four year-old might count), both of which are generally more work, you could possibly charge $2.50. Either way, the parents are usually very willing to negotiate; so just be honest about how much work you feel you are doing. Good luck!

I would charge twenty bucks for the evening for watching the kids. If it's someone who know kind of well you should let them give you whatever they see fit.
