I have an 8 yr old parakeet that has a dark brown bump growing on its beak. What is it?

It acts fine, eats, drinks, & plays like normal. Does anyone know what it could be? And what I should do about it? Thank You!

I read something a long time ago about a parrasite, mite or infection on a parakeets beak but cannot recall the site. Here is one though that has some information that might have an answer for you.

Not sure what you are talking about. This site tells the sex of the bird. Brown crest is Girl:

That website might help. Maybe email the question to www.petco.com or www.petsmart.com or call them up and ask to speak to the bird specialist. Or see if a local vet is willing to see your bird, ask about price up front for the bird exam and medicines.
