Darkish color dress/w/jacket, just about the hips lenght with high heals on to match...dress length about one half inch about the knees if you have good legs, if not about the mid calf, brown, navy or dark gray...all hot colors.
If you have boobs, lowish cut, nothing cheap, just a hint.
look, a size 16 is the average here in the states, pick a color that is good for you, and feel good.
My understanding is that hats are a must there, try fake hair if you need to, it's a ton of fun.
Hope it helps, have fun, sounds like a fun day!!!!!

Is it black tie? If so you would need a nice long evening skirt & jacket. Maybe an dark green suit with cream silk blouse.
Daytime formal that is not black tie - a rose or green brocade suit.
Heels (not too tall - the waiting can be tough on your feet) & a small matching handbag & hat. The suit will help you feel slim & the jacket will help with the coolness. If it is horribly cold use a nice shawl to keep out cold. Enjoy the wedding & stop judging yourself by size, it sounds like fun.
I have gone from size 16 to size 8 in 9 months & my life is the same. Size does not give joy to you, people do. Have fun & enjoy!

Check out the fashion magazines for womens sizes. I am sure that you will find someone who looks like you in a formal dress. I would tend towards dark colours. maybe a velvet strapless gown with a coordinating jacket.

Black jacket, and a black skirt, one that is free and flowwy. (Black makes you appear thinner ((not that you're big))) And pick a real nice shirt, maybe something like white and pink with stripes, pattern or such? That is to add colour. And some nice long boots! You will look stunning. Also if you wear your hair up most of the time, wear it down, and if you wear you hair down most of the time, wear it up, or half up. =)

That's not a big size. You may want to look for an A-line Empire cut dress. That way it takes focus away from your waist and emphazises on your other good features.
